Summary

Open-source software has become an increasingly important part of PKPD modeling, enabling transparent, reproducible, and flexible model-informed drug-development workflows. In this webinar, we will review the history and development of nlmixr, an open-source R package for fitting nonlinear mixed-effects models. The presentation will highlight the use of nlmixr for PKPD models implemented through both closed-form solutions and ordinary differential equations, including models with flexible dosing histories.

About speaker:

Wenping Wang has more than 20 years of experience in both consultancy and the pharmaceutical industry, including roles at Pharsight (Certara), Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, and, most recently, Takeda. In 2017, Wenping was named a Novartis VIVA (Vision, Innovation, Value and Achievement) Leading Scientist — a lifetime award recognizing exceptional scientific contributions at Novartis worldwide. In 2018, he received the ISOP Innovation Award for his “exceptional innovation in advancing the discipline of pharmacometrics. Wenping is the original creator of several widely used R packages for pharmacometrics, including RxODE, nlmixr, and Stanette. His work has helped make modeling and simulation more intuitive and accessible for supporting Go/No-Go decisions throughout drug development.
